What Harrell family am I from? Originally labeled "Phillip Harrell".

  1. Does this appear to you to be a Civil War Union uniform?
One possibility is a Phillip Harrell b. 1829 to Moses Harrell b. 1802 and Rebecca Frances Scott. There is a civil war record of a Phillip Harrell in the Union 16th regiment and died in New Orleans of possible lung ailment. It's easy to mix up different Moses' and Phillips'! This Moses is likely son of Noah. What do you think?

    1. Interesting. I received this from Jerry Cripe. He felt it was Phillip Marion Harrell b. 1836 Indiana s/o Phillip Harrell b.1787. I am not sure.

  2. Now I think I have the wrong Phillip. It might be a Phillip M Harrell b. 1836.
Otherwise, There were 3 Phillip Harrell's in different regiments
Here's one: Phillip M Harrell, 16th Infantry Regiment, Company C. This one was in New Orleans in 1964 where a Phillip Harrell died.

The 2nd one is: Phillip Harrell or Harrold, Indiana 26th Infantry Regiment, Company E. They were guards in MO and engaged in battles in AR and Vicksburg
The 3rd one is: Phillip Harrell, New York 91st Infantry Regiment, Company B. They fought mostly in LA, but not New Orleans.
